Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Service Precautions in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. With the aid of an assistant, remove the front bucket seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  3. Remove the lap retractor cover.
  4. Remove the seat back trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement .

  5. Disconnect the heated seat cushion electrical connector or the air lines and electrical connectors for the adaptive lumbar.
  6. Disconnect the harnesses from the seat bottom.
  7. Turn the seat over and remove the seat cover J retainers from the seat bottom.
  8. Remove the power seat switch assembly Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

  9. Remove the nuts retaining the seat bottom to the adjuster frame.
  10. Remove the seat cushion frame by lifting the front of the bottom up and pulling forward in order to release the rear retainers.

Installation Procedure
  1. Engage the rear seat cushion frame studs to the seat adjuster frame.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Lower the front of the seat cushion frame in order to install the nuts to the studs.

  3. Install the nuts to the seat cushion frame studs.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the seat cushion frame nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  4. Connect the heated seat cushion electrical connectors or the air lines and electrical connectors to the adaptive lumbar.
  5. Connect the harnesses to the seat bottom.
  6. Install the power seat switch assembly. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .
  7. Engage the seat cover J retainers onto the adjuster frame.
  8. Install the lap retractor cover.
  9. Install the seat back trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement .
  10. With the aid of an assistant, install the front bucket seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
