Wheel Tramp

Problem

Action

The ball joint has inadequate lubricant.

Service and/or replace as needed.

Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement .

The vehicle has worn tie rod ends.

Service and /or replace as needed.

Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System. Perform an alignment. Refer to Front Toe Adjustment .

The control arm bushings are worn.

Service and/or replace as needed

Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .

The stabilizer shaft bushings are loose or worn.

Service and/or repalce as needed.

Refer Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement .

The wheel nuts are loose.

Tighten the wheel nuts as needed.

Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Tire and Wheel.

The suspension bolts are loose.

Inspect and service as required.

Incorrect rack preload.

Inspect and service as required.

Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle in Power Steering System.

The strut or strut mounting is damaged.

Inspect and service as required.

Refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement .
