Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 43575  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Support the intermediate pipe with suitable jack.
  3. Cut the muffler from the intermediate pipe (1) ahead of the weld but as close to the weld as the tool will permit.

  4. Object Number: 390768  Size: SH
  5. Remove the muffler from the muffler hanger.
  6. Remove the muffler assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 154308  Size: SH
  1. Install the muffler.
  2. Install the muffler hanger.

  3. Object Number: 43554  Size: SH
  4. Install the intermediate pipe to the muffler using a bolt type clamp.
  5. Position the clamp so that the nuts are toward the outside of the vehicle.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Align the muffler and the intermediate pipe assembly to the proper clearance.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
