Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 522547  Size: SH
  3. Remove the nuts from the catalytic converter to the exhaust downpipe.
  4. Remove the oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls.

  5. Object Number: 522567  Size: SH
  6. Remove the four bolts securing the exhaust downpipe to the exhaust manifold.
  7. Remove the exhaust downpipe.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 522567  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust downpipe.
  2. Install the four bolts securing the exhaust downpipe to exhaust manifold.
  3. Important: Do not tighten the bolts at this time.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the nuts from the catalytic converter to the exhaust downpipe.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the catalytic converter bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement Oxygen Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls.
  7. Tighten exhaust downpipe.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the two right exhaust downpipe to exhaust manifold bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft) and the left exhaust downpipe to exhaust manifold bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
