Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cable

The front park brake cable is serviced with the park brake pedal assembly.

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Intermediate Cable

1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Disconnect the intermediate parking brake cable (2) from the cable clip (1).
3. Disconnect intermediate cable housing from the cable retaining bracket.



4. Disconnect the intermediate cable (3) from the rear equalizer (1).
5. Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket.
6. Remove the intermediate cable.

1. Route and install the intermediate parking cable into brake cable retaining brackets.
2. Connect the left (2) and right (5) rear parking brake cables to the intermediate cable (3), using equalizer (1).



3. Insert the intermediate cable (1) into the cable retaining bracket and lock the cable into place.
4. Connect front of the intermediate cable (2) to the front cable using the connecting clip (1).
5. Adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cable

1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.



3. Back off the adjuster in the equalizer (1) to release cable tension.
4. Disconnect right (5) and left (2) rear parking brake cables from the rear equalizer (1).
5. Remove both brake cables from their brackets by depressing retaining tabs on the cable housings and pulling the cables out of the brackets.



6. Disconnect both parking brake cables (1) from the parking brake levers.
7. Remove right and left cable from caliper support brackets by depressing conduit fitting retaining tabs
8. Remove the parking brake rear cables.

1. Install both cables (2), (5) into their brackets by snapping them into place.
2. Connect both cables to the equalizer (1).



3. Install right and left cables (1) into the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
4. Connect the parking brake cables to the parking brake levers.
5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
6. Adjust parking brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
