Battery Cable Positive Cable

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

  2. Object Number: 154782  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.

  5. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery.
  6. Remove the right side rear carpet retainer. Refer to Rear Floor Panel Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim to expose the positive battery cable.

  7. Object Number: 106214  Size: SH
  8. Remove the battery cable retainers from the rocker panel area.

  9. Object Number: 154773  Size: SH
  10. Unseat the battery cable grommet from the cowl area.

  11. Object Number: 154784  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the battery cable from the under hood electrical center.
  13. Carefully remove the battery cable from the vehicle by pulling cable through the cowl and out of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery cable into vehicle. Slide the cable through the opening in the cowl panel and seat the cable grommet by pulling the cable rearward in vehicle.
  2. Connect the cable to the under hood electrical center.

  3. Object Number: 154778  Size: SH
  4. Route the cable along the rocker panel and install all of the cable fasteners.

  5. Object Number: 154773  Size: SH
  6. Install the interior trim. Refer to Rear Floor Panel Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim.

  7. Object Number: 154778  Size: SH
  8. Connect the positive battery cable to the battery.

  9. Object Number: 154782  Size: SH
  10. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
  11. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats..

  2. Object Number: 154782  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
  4. Disconnect the body harness.
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the floor pan.
  6. Remove the negative battery cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 154782  Size: SH

    Important: When installing the negative battery cable, be sure that the cable eyelet is installed with the flat side down. Keep the crimped side facing upward.

  1. Connect the body end of the negative battery cable to the floor pan.
  2. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
  3. Connect the body harness connector to the body harness.
  4. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
