J 39544-KIT Wheel Nut Torque Limiter

    Object Number: 971 Size: SH
  1. Before installing the wheel, remove any corrosion on the wheel mounting surface by scraping and wire brushing. Installing a wheel without a good metal-to-metal contact at the mounting surfaces can cause wheel nuts to loosen, which can later allow the wheel to come off, possibly causing loss of control.
  2. The wheel nuts must be tightened in sequence and to a proper torque to avoid bending the wheel, or rotor.
  3. Important: Never use lubricants or penetrating fluids on wheel studs, nuts, or mounting surfaces, as this can raise the actual torque on the nut.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Tighten wheel nuts using J 39544-KIT wheel nut torque limiter.
  5. Tighten
Tighten Wheel nuts to 140 N·m (100 lb ft).
