Theft Deterrent System Inoperative

Was the Theft Deterrent System Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Open the driver or passenger door.
  3. Press the driver or passenger power door lock switch.
  4. Close both the driver and passenger doors (CTD System is now ARMED).

Does the CTD system ARM properly?

Disarm the CTD system by inserting the door key into the driver door lock cylinder and rotate it to the unlock position, then try the passenger door lock cylinder.

Does the CTD system DISARM properly from both doors?

Go to Step 8

Disarm the CTD system by pressing the UNLOCK button on the remote transmitter.

Does the CTD system DISARM properly?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Power Door Systems

Go to Step 5

Using a scan tool, try to establish communications with the DIM, LFDM, and RIM systems.

Can the scan tool communicate with the DIM, LFDM, and RIM systems?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Close the driver and passenger doors.
  3. Press the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

Does the CTD system ARM properly?

Repair the no communication malfunction to the system that could not communicate with the scan tool. Refer to the appropriate Diagnostic System Check that applies to that system.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the following circuits for an intermittent malfunction:

    • Driver door ajar switch.
    • Passenger door ajar switches.
    • Intermittent communications between the DIM, LFDM, or RIM systems.
    • Power door lock switches.
    • Door lock cylinder switches.
    • Rear lid tamper switch.
    • Hood ajar switch (export only).

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Replace the RIM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. Program the RIM.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.

Is the repair complete?
