  1. For the portable cellular telephone, connect the handset to the docking station.
  2. Turn ignition to ON, with the engine off.
  3. Press and hold the PWR key on the telephone handset.

Does the telephone display illuminate?

  1. Press the driver information center (DIC) INFORMATION button.
  2. Select PHONE INFO.

Does the PHN NO HANDSET message appear on the DIC?

Check the AUDIO fuse in the rear junction block. (Note that if this fuse is open, the radio and compact disk (CD) changer are also inoperative.)

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cellular telephone module connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON with engine off.
  4. Connect a DMM set to DC volts scale between the cellular telephone module connector terminal 4 and ground, then terminal 16 and ground.

Is the measured voltage in the specified range for both measurements?

10-15 V

Connect a DMM between cellular telephone module terminal 3 and battery positive voltage (B+), then terminal 17 and B+.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Reconnect the cellular telephone module connector.
  3. Disconnect the cellular telephone handset/docking station connector (adapter card connector for the fixed telephone or docking cup telephone harness for the portable telephone.)
  4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, with engine off.
  5. Using a DMM, measure the voltage between handset connector terminals 4 and 2.

Is the measured voltage within the specified limits?
