Removal Procedure
- Raise and support vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove cotter pin from outer adjustment link.
- Remove nut from outer adjustment link.
- Using a block of wood, support the exhaust and rear support assembly.
- Remove four exhaust hangers.
- Remove two rear support assembly bolts and lower the support assembly and exhaust together.
- Remove the cam bolt and nut.
- Remove the adjustment link from the support assembly.
- Remove the inner adjustment link from the outer adjustment link noting the number of turns for reassembly reference.
Installation Procedure
- Install the inner adjustment link to the outer adjustment link by tightening the same number of turns as removal.
- Install the inner adjustment link to the support assembly.
- Install the cam bolt, washer and the nut.
- Install outer adjustment nut.
- Raise the support assembly and exhaust.
- Install the rear two bolts in the support assembly to the body of the vehicle.
- Install the exhaust hangers.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Check rear toe adjustment. Refer to Rear Toe Adjustment in Wheel Alignment.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the cam nut to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the support bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).
