Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement LHD

1. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
2. Without disconnecting the front park brake cable, remove the park brake pedal assembly and position aside. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.



3. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.



4. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod retaining clip (1).



5. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) from the brake pedal pivot.



6. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



7. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod wave washer (1).



8. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).



9. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).



10. Remove the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).



11. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).



12. Remove the steering column support bracket (1).
13. Remove the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.



14. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1) from the vehicle.

1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.
2. Install the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.



3. Install the steering column support bracket (1).



4. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




5. Install the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  25 N·m (18 lb ft).



6. Install the brake pedal bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  25 N·m (18 lb ft).



7. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  25 N·m (18 lb ft).



8. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod wave washer (1).



9. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



10. Connect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) to the brake pedal pivot.



11. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod retaining clip (1).



12. Connect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.
13. Install the park brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.
14. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
15. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.

Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement RHD

1. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
2. Without disconnecting the front park brake cable, remove the park brake pedal assembly and position aside. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.



3. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.



4. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod retaining clip (1).



5. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) from the brake pedal pivot.



6. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



7. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod wave washer (1).



8. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).



9. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).



10. Remove the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).



11. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).



12. Remove the steering column support bracket (1).
13. Remove the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.



14. Remove the accelerator pedal position sensor (1). Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement for the 3.6L engine or Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement for the 4.6L engine.



15. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1) from the vehicle.

1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.
2. Install the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.



3. Install the accelerator pedal position sensor (1). Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement for the 3.6L engine or Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement for the 4.6L engine.



4. Install the steering column support bracket (1).



5. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




6. Install the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  25 N·m (18 lb ft).



7. Install the brake pedal bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  25 N·m (18 lb ft).



8. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  25 N·m (18 lb ft).



9. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod wave washer (1).



10. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).



11. Connect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) to the brake pedal pivot.



12. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod retaining clip (1).



13. Connect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.
14. Install the park brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement.
15. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
16. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.
