1. Door Ajar Malfunction |
The rear compartment lid ajar switch is normally open when the trunk is fully closed. When the trunk is open the rear compartment lid ajar switch contact is closed providing a path to ground. When the rear compartment lid ajar switch is closed, the rear compartment lid ajar switch signal to the rear integration module (RIM) is grounded. The RIM reports the switch status by sending a serial data message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicating the trunk ajar status. The IPC displays TRUNK AJAR in the driver information center (DIC).
⇒ | If not, replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). |
⇒ | If no, test the rear compartment lid ajar switch signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RIM. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
