The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Owners of 2007 Cadillac SRX may comment that the air flow from the HVAC System only goes to the floor, or "Heat" mode. There may also be a snapping noise heard when moving between "defrost" and "heat" modes. DTC B0248 may be set.
The Mode Actuator cam pin may have become disengaged from the Defrost Lever. Replace the Cam Lever on the Mode Actuator and Defrost Lever (1) with part number 19130240. Follow the Mode Actuator Replacement instructions found in SI document number 1711553.
Notice: The Defrost Lever (1) can be removed with a standard screwdriver. Only apply pressure in the area identified as (2). Apply supplied grease to the Defrost Lever in locations identified as (3).
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
