The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays the SERVICE STEERING SYSTEM warning message. DTC C0450 Steering Assist Control Solenoid/Motor/Actuator Circuit is stored.
Inspect for contact between the Engine Wire Harness and the LF Wheel Drive Shaft outer seal near C120 Engine Harness to Variable Effort Steering (VES) Jumper Harness (1). Repair the Variable Effort Steering Actuator wiring as necessary. Relocate the clip (2) holding the Variable Effort Steering (VES) Jumper Harness to the Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose to a position further down the hose towards the rear of the vehicle to create more clearance.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
