The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A customer may comment about one or more of the following concerns. These concerns may be intermittent:

   • 

No start

   • 

Instrument Panel Gauges inoperative

   • 

Warning Messages/ Indicators for the Tire Pressure Monitor, Stabilitrak, Traction Control, and or Supplemental Inflatable Restraint systems.

   • 

Cannot remove the key from the ignition

The Diagnostic System Check may reveal one or more of the following clues:

   • 

Tech 2 will not communicate with the Low GMLAN Data Line.

   • 

The presence of DTC U0140-U0299, P1629, B3922 B1370, or B1380.

   • 

The IGN SW Fuse 2A located in the Underhood Electrical Center or any BCM fuse is open.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Inspect Instrument Panel and Steering Column Wire Harnesses for damage. There are three areas to inspect. The first location is near SP200 on the Instrument Panel Insulator Panel. Lower the Instrument Panel Insulator Panel. Inspect wire harness (1) attached to the panel. It may have been caught on the mounting stud (2) located on the inboard forward side. Circuits that potentially could be damaged are listed below. Ensure the harness is rerouted as shown (6).

Remove the Knee Bolster and inspect the Instrument Panel Wire Harness near C206 Body Harness to I/P Harness (5). Wires on the I/P side of C206 (5) may have been pinned behind the Knee Bolster on the left side of the Steering Column. Circuits that potentially could be damaged are listed below.
