| Subject: | Information on Installing SRX Accessories Trailer Hitch |
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform dealers of a change to 2007 Cadillac SRX vehicles that affects the installation of the dealer-installed SRX Accessories Trailer Hitch Package, P/N 12498654. 2007 Cadillac SRX vehicles have a tack welded
style fastener on the bumper bar-to-frame rail bracket on each side that will interfere with installation of the trailer hitch assembly.
Changes to Installation Procedure for 2007 Model Year Vehicles
The following additional steps need to be performed when installing trailer hitches per Installation Instruction sheet, P/N 88961322 (included in SRX Accessories Trailer Hitch Package).
| • | Do not perform Steps 6-8 in Installation Instruction sheet, P/N 88961322. These plastic brackets are no longer present. |
| • | Prior to performing Step 13, follow the steps below: |
| 1. | Locate the lower fastener on the bumper bar-to-frame rail bracket on the driver side of the vehicle. |
| 2. | Place air chisel tip (1) at base of fastener head (2) to remove the fastener head. |
| 3. | Grind chiseled area smooth to remove any remaining weld material. |
| 4. | Repeat removal of fastener on the passenger side of vehicle. |
| 5. | Protect any exposed metal surfaces with Synthetic Lubricant with Teflon, P/N 12371287 (in Canada, 10953437). Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 03-00-89-008B. |
