Subject: | ECM Reprogram |
Models: | 2007 Cadillac SRX |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Follow the guidelines below for E77 or E55 ECM reflash reprogramming.
Do not reprogram the EMC unless a PI or service bulletin calls for it for this specific VIN.
Make sure the VIN is in the specified range in the PI or service bulletin.
Note the applicable PI or service bulletin on the repair order when reprogramming is performed.
E55 and E77 controllers take longer to reprogram than other controllers; please allow 20 minutes and retry up to three times if not successful.
If reprogramming is interrupted, correct the reason for the interruption and reprogram again starting at the beginning of the reprogramming procedure.
Make sure there is no electromagnetic interference in the area (arc welding, etc.)
Because of the long reprogram time requiring key on, supplement battery voltage by jumping to another battery or by using the PCS line of chargers by Midtronics. No other charger is approved for use during ECM reflash.
Turn off all accessories (radio, headlamps, HVAC, etc.) that put a load on the battery during reprogramming.
Use the latest version of Tech 2 and TIS software when reprogramming.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
