Pop Noise From The Rear Roof Area Over Bumps And Body Twists - keywords CF5 creak flex sunroof tick ultraview

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Pop or creak noise from the rear of the vehicle roof area. The noise can occur while the vehicle goes over bumps and with torsional load inputs to the body. In some cases the noise may be thought to be coming from the Ultraview Roof. This noise may be confused with concerns outlined in 05-08-67-001B and 06-08-67-012A.

The noise may be caused by one of the following conditions:

-Inspect for contact between the Roof Rail Air Bag mounting fasteners (1) and the inner roof panel (2), as shown in the figure below. If the fastener (1) is making contact with the inner roof panel (2), as shown, remove the fastener and grind 2 mm of material off of the end of the fastener (3) and reinstall it.

-Inspect for contact between the drive cable tube retainer screw (4) and the sunroof module assembly frame. A witness mark (5) may be visible. Remove the screw (4) and grind the tip to create clearance between it and the frame.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
