Service Stability C0252 Stored (Inspect Sensor Adapter Clip) - keywords activation locator position sensor steering swps vses wheel

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

The DIC displays SERVICE STABILITY; C0252 is stored in the EBCM. Review of Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) data on the Tech2 may reveal that the Phase A and Phase B data remains phased at 90° through out all positions, but does not read normally when the steering wheel is centered straight ahead. Typical SWPS readings when the steering wheel is centered straight ahead will be close to: Phase A 2.75v Phase B .25v.

Inspect the SWPS locator/ adapter (2) for having become loose or out of position. The clip should snap inside the SWPS (1) on the steering shaft. Reseat the locator/ adapter (2) into the SWPS (1). Replace it if missing or will not lock into place.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
