EN 46109 Guide Pins


    Object Number: 1857562  Size: SH
  1. Install the 8 mm (0.315 in) guide from the EN 46109 into the cylinder block positions as shown.

  2. Object Number: 1211002  Size: SH
  3. Install the NEW engine front cover to cylinder block seal.

  4. Object Number: 902868  Size: SH

    Important: Some models use a second design inverted tooth timing drive system on the secondary drive components. Refer to Camshaft Timing Drive Design Identification for more information on specific changes.

  5. Place a 3 mm (0.118 in) bead of RTV sealant, GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent, on the engine front cover as shown (1).

  6. Object Number: 1857560  Size: SH
  7. Place the engine front cover onto the EN 46109 and slide into position.
  8. Remove the EN 46109 from the cylinder block.

  9. Object Number: 1857539  Size: SH
  10. Install the engine front cover deadener.
  11. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Loosely install the engine front cover bolts to hold the engine front cover deadener into position.

  13. Object Number: 1857543  Size: SH
  14. Loosely install the remaining engine front cover bolts.

  15. Object Number: 1992549  Size: SH
  16. Tighten the engine front cover bolts in the sequence shown (1-22).
  17. Tighten

    1. Tighten the engine front cover bolts a first pass in sequence to 20 N·m (14 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the engine front cover bolts a second pass in sequence an additional 60 degrees.

  18. Place the camshaft position actuator valves in position on the front cover.
  19. Install the camshaft position actuator valve bolts.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft position actuator valve bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  21. Install NEW O-rings on the camshaft position sensor.
  22. Place the camshaft position sensors in position on the front cover.
  23. Install the camshaft position sensor bolts.
  24. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft position sensor bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
