Subject:Replacement Mirror Moves in the Opposite Direction

Models:2004- 2006 Cadillac SRX



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The power mirror moves in the opposite direction from the direction being requested from the switch. This condition is noticed after the mirror was replaced with a service part. An issue has been discovered with the service parts causing this condition.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Remove the mirror glass. Tilt the top of the mirror out and pry up with a plastic sturdy, wide, non-marring (plastic) trim stick (1).

  3. Remove the four screws (2) that attach the actuator to the mirror.

  5. On the back of the actuator there are 2 square connectors. Locate the appropriate connector and carefully remove the tape from the wires.
  6. • Left Hand Mirror - Yellow and Blue wires.
    • Right Hand Mirror - Light Green and White wires.
  7. Cut and splice the wires so they are crossed as depicted below (3) using splicing methods contained in SI Wiring Systems Diagnostic Information and Procedures.
  8. Notice: The left hand mirror is depicted; the right hand mirror is similar.

    • Left Hand - Cross the Yellow wire with the Blue wire
    • Right Hand - Cross the Light Green wire with the White wire

  9. Re-tape the wires and reassemble the mirror.
  10. Reinstall mirror on to motor pack. Tilt the motor pack plate so top of mirror is tilted out. Pry down on mirror glass (4) to engage locking tabs with plastic trim stick.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
