| Subject: | 3.6L LY7 Engine DTC P2176 Minimum Throttle Position Not Learn |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis
might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Condition/Concern:
DTC P2176 set with no other DTC set and the ECM will not successfully complete
the idle learn.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The follow must be followed or the ECM will not perform an idle learn. Anytime
that the throttle system is service and ONLY DTC P2176 is set the following conditions
MUST be met for the ECM to perform an idle learn:
| • | The engine speed is less than 40 RPM. |
| • | The vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph). |
| • | The ECT is between 5-60°C (41-140°F). |
| • | The IAT is more than 5-60°C (41-140°F). |
| • | The APP sensor angle is less than 14.9 percent. |
| • | The ignition 1 voltage is more than 10 volts. |
| • | DTC P2176 run continuously once the above conditions are met for more
than 1 second. |

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the
condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps
do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact
GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for
the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other
vehicles with similar symptoms.
