Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System
Always perform the Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System before proceeding with these diagnostic procedures. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System .
Important:
• The following information lists the most probable cause of the concern
to the least probable cause followed by the appropriate test for that condition.
If the list leads to the replacement of a component, always inspect for a poor connection
before proceeding with the replacement. Refer to

in Wiring Systems. • The following conditions assume that both left and right audio channels
in the wireless headphones are inoperative in all rear seat entertainment modes.
- Discharged batteries in the wireless headphones. Check for poor battery condition even if the power indicator light is illuminated on the earpiece.
- Inoperative infra-red receiver in the headphones. Test the system with a known good set of headphones. Replace the headphones if necessary.
- Inoperative infra-red transmitter in the disc player and video display. Replace the disc player and video display. Refer to Video with DVD Display Replacement .
Important: The following conditions assume that either the left or right audio channel in the wireless headphones are inoperative when listening to an audio source from the navigation radio head.
With U42 and NAV Radio
- RSA right or left audio signal open, shorted to ground or shorted to battery positive voltage. Test the appropriate RSA right or left audio signal for an open, short to ground or a short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
- Inoperative speaker in the headphones. Test the system with a known good set of headphones. Replace the headphones if necessary.
- Inoperative RSA right or left audio signal input in the disc player and video display. Replace the disc player and video display. Refer to Video with DVD Display Replacement .
- Inoperative RSA right or left audio signal output in the radio. Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
Important: The following conditions assume that either the left or right audio channel in the wireless headphones are inoperative when listening to television.
With U42 and TV
- TV right or left audio signal open or shorted to ground. Test the appropriate TV right or left audio signal for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
- Inoperative speaker in the headphones. Test the system with a known good set of headphones. Replace the headphones if necessary.
- Inoperative TV right or left audio signal input in the disc player and video display. Replace the disc player and video display. Refer to Video with DVD Display Replacement .
- Inoperative RSA right or left audio signal output in the TV tuner. Replace the TV tuner. Refer to Navigation System - Poor or Inoperative TV Reception in Navigation Systems.
