GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

Important: If the radio setup is not performed after replacing the radio, the digital radio receiver, vehicle communication interface module (VCIM), disc player and video display, and the steering wheel controls may not work properly. The radio may display a calibrate message on the display.

Note: The following procedures should be completed after retained accessory power (RAP) is removed from the vehicle radio.

Radio Theft Procedure

Important: The radio theft will learn the vehicle identification number (VIN). Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC or LOCKED).

If the radio is replaced, perform a VIN Relearn, located in the Special Functions section on the scan tool. Cycle the ignition when complete.

Option Configuration

Important: Do not perform this procedure for the navigation radio.

For option configuration select Special Functions under Radio and complete the setup procedure.

Radios received through the service centers arrive configured for CTS vehicles. If the vehicle is an SRX, it is important to select the appropriate vehicle type prior to completion of the following steps. Select the appropriate vehicle, go to radio, special functions, set options, optional modules, then select the appropriate modules to set up and save options. It is necessary to cycle the ignition OFF and open the door to disable RAP to save programming.
