GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only
    • SGM vehicles are designed for operation under normal environmental conditions.
    • Design criteria for sealing material and components takes into account the sealing strength with the requirement of natural factors. However, these specifications have not taken into consideration any artificial conditions such as high pressure vehicle wash.
    • The water leakage test procedure is related to natural elements and can determine the vehicle performance under normal operation conditions.
    • The first step of leakage diagnosis is to determine the leakage happening conditions. If the general leakage position can be found, water hose or pneumatic hose may be used to separate the ingress point. Certain trim panels or components may need to be removed in order to repair the leakage.
    • If leakages are found around the door, window, trunk lid, or liftgate area, bad weatherstrips may not necessarily be the leakage cause. Adjustment to these areas may resolve the problem.
