BELT NOISE/RATTLE(REPL. WITH NEW SERPENTINE BELT)

SUBJECT: SERPENTINE BELT NOISE AND/OR RATTLE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1993 FLEETWOODS (RWD) AND FLEETWOOD BROUGHAMS

Some 1993 Fleetwoods (RWD) and Fleetwood Broughams with L05 (5.7L VIN 7) engines and standard cooling systems (RPO V03) built before breakpoint 721296 may experience serpentine belt resonance and/or a rattle sound from the serpentine belt tensioner assembly.

The above condition may or may not be initiated by air conditioner compressor operation.

This condition may be caused by dusting and/or pilling of the serpentine belt. A new serpentine belt has been released to address this condition.

Verify the part number of the serpentine belt. If the part number is 15589756 (Mfg. - Goodyear), remove the belt as described in Section 6B of the Service Information Manual. Replace the belt with the following:

Serpentine Belt - P/N 10236896 (Mfg. - Gates)

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation J0667 at .2 hour.
