Some 1990-1992 Broughams equipped with the 5.OL or 5.7L TBI may experience any of the following conditions:
o Loss of power o Tip-in hesitation o Hard start when cold o No start when cold o Rough idle o Roughness under a load
The cause of this condition may be internal deterioration of the fuel pump coupler hose.
To determine if the coupler is deteriorated, perform the fuel system diagnosis in Chart A-7 of Section 6E.
If fuel pressure is low, remove the fuel sending unit per the appropriate Service Information Manual. Visually inspect the fuel coupler for any signs of deterioration. If found, replace the fuel coupler hose with P/N 25028041. This hose is made of Viton which will provide resistance to deterioration. It comes packaged in kit form: the coupler and two white plastic hose clamps.
Parts are currently available from CANSPO.
For vehicles repaired under warranty use Labour Operation - J5590 at .8 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
