Some customers may comment on slower steering wheel returnability particularly during a low speed turning maneuver on 1992 Broughams and 1993 Fleetwoods and Fleetwood Broughams (RWD) with variable effort steering.
This condition may be caused by low system steering effort requirements at slow speed and off-center mass distribution of the steering wheel with SIR (Supplemental Inflatable Restraint).
To correct this condition replace existing power steering gear valve assembly with new assembly, P/N 26042103.
Follow applicable Service Information Manual procedures in Section 3B and 3B1, Power Steering Gear and Pump.
Parts are expected to be available on June 7, 1993.
For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T3320 at 2.6 hours.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
