Subject: | Automatic Door Lock Operation (Reprogram the Body Control Module (BCM)) |
Models: | 2002 Cadillac Escalade |
Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 2R110510 |
The Automatic door lock feature locks the doors when the vehicle is shifted out of Park, with the engine running and any door open. This may inadvertently lock all doors when servicing the vehicle. A typical example may be when a car wash attendant shifts the vehicle out of Park to move the vehicle onto the conveyor, the doors lock; he then places the vehicle in Neutral, gets out of the vehicle and closes the door. When the vehicle gets to the end of the car wash, the doors cannot be opened.
With the engine running and any door open, shift the vehicle out of Park. Do the doors lock? If the doors lock, reprogram the BCM. If the doors do not lock, the vehicle has the correct calibration.
Reprogramming of the BCM will change the Automatic door lock operating parameters so that when the engine is running and a door is open, the doors do not lock immediately when the vehicle is shifted out of Park.
Reprogram the BCM using the SPS reprogramming method. These calibrations were available starting April 15, 2001 on the TIS 2000 data version 4.5 update or later.
