Models: | 2000 Cadillac Deville, Eldorado, Seville |
with 4.6L Northstar Engine (VINs Y, 9 - RPOs LD8, L37) |
2000 Deville/Seville/Eldorado service engine P/Ns 88894249 (LD8) and 88894250 (L37) have been replaced by P/Ns 88894240 (LD8) and 88894239 (L37) respectively. These service engines have the updated camshaft profile for improved idle characteristics that went into production in the 2001 model year.
When service engine P/N 88894240 or 88894239 is installed in a 2000 model year vehicle listed above, the PCM calibration must be updated to match the improved camshafts.
To update the calibration, contact TECHLINE and inform TECHLINE of the new engine part number that has been installed in the vehicle. Techline will give the Dealer a Vehicle Configuration Index (VCI) number to install the correct calibration for the engine vehicle combination.
Techline must be contacted each time an engine is installed so they have a record of when an engine with the updated camshafts has been installed in each vehicle. This will ensure that any future calibrations for that vehicle will be correct.
Service engine P/Ns 88894240 and 88894239 will now come with an instruction sheet containing the information to contact Techline for a calibration when the engine is installed in a 2000 model year vehicle. When using these engines in a 2001 or 2002 model year vehicle, a calibration update is not necessary.
