Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

  3. Object Number: 493024  Size: SH
  4. Remove the carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  5. Remove the carpeted front floor mats.
  6. Remove the carpeted rear floor mats.
  7. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  8. Remove the sound insulators from under the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side or Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. For a full console only, remove the heater extension duct.
  10. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the 3 push in retainers securing the rear carpet.
  11. Remove the rear carpet.
  12. Remove the front carpet.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: In order to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage when you repair or replace the carpet, use the same thickness and material size as the original installation. Always return the carpet to the original location.

    Caution: All floor pan insulator material must meet Federal Vehicle Safety Standards for flammability. Failure to do so could result in personal injury and/or vehicle damage.

  1. Position the rear floor carpet into place.
  2. Make sure the electrical connectors are carefully pulled through the openings in the carpet.
  3. Install the 3 push in retainers at the rear of the carpeting in order to secure the rear carpet.
  4. Position the front carpet.
  5. Ensure all wrinkles are removed.
  6. Install the heater extension duct.
  7. Install the sound insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side or Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  8. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Install the carpeted rear floor mats.
  10. Install the carpeted front floor mats.
  11. Install the carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  12. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  13. Install the front seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
