Notice: Striker alignment is a crucial part of door latch operation. Do not use the door striker to adjust the door to the vehicle. Failure to properly adjust the striker can result in damage to the door latch and the striker.

The hinges are bolted to the following components:

    • The door
    • The body

Door adjustments are provided through the use of floating anchor plates in the following components:

    • The door
    • The front body hinge pillars

When adjusting the door fore and aft, refer to Door Adjustment .

    • Up and down
    • Forward and rearward
    • In and out

Before attempting any door alignments, ensure that the door lock striker hangs freely on the hinges. This condition eliminates the possibility of striker interference with proper door alignment. The only function of a striker is to hold the door firmly in the door opening. Do not use the striker in order to force the door into proper alignment.

Reset the striker adjustment after any door adjustment. After any hinge or striker adjustment, touch up any exposed unpainted surface on the following components:

    • The hinge
    • The striker pillar
