Did you perform the A Diagnostic System Check - Defogger?

  1. Disconnect defogger relay in the rear compartment relay center 2.
  2. Turn the ignition to RUN.
  3. Connect a test light between the relay terminal  D1 and ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 3

Connect a test light between the connector terminal D3 and ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

--

Connect a test lamp between connector relay terminal D3 and terminal C1.

Did the test light illuminate?

  1. Connect a fused jumper between terminal D3 and terminal C1.
  2. Disconnect the defogger positive feed bus connector.
  3. Connect a test light between the positive feed haness of the rear defogger and ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

  1. Connect the defogger positive feed bus connector.
  2. Disconnect the defogger negative feed bus connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the negative feed bus of the rear defogger and ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Press the defogger switch.
  3. Measure the resistance from the relay harness connector terminal C3 to ground.

Does the resistance measure within the specified range?

0-5 ohms

  1. Turn off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the body control module connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between relay connector terminal D1 and terminal C3.
  4. Connect a fused jumper between body control module connector terminal D9 and ground.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Did the test light illuminate?

  1. Connect the scan tool.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Press the defogger switch.

Did the PZM command the defogger to turn on?

  1. Test CKT 270 (TAN) for an open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Test CKT 293 (PPL) for an open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  3. Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at terminal A of the rear defogger connector. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Test CKT 1250 (BLK) for an open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at terminal A of the negative feed bus connector. Refer to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
