Removal Procedure
Important: Do not attempt to reinstall the original antenna exterior base or the
interior coupling using any type of glue, adhesive tapes, ect. Doing so may
eliminate the cellular signal transfer through the glass and reduce the
maximum performance of the system that includes air bag deployment.
- Remove the left quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Disconnect the cellular
coaxial cable (2) from the coupling box (1).
Important: Be careful not to damage the defroster grid lines.
- Remove the coupling box from the interior of the rear window using a
small flat-bladed plastic tool in order to release the double back adhesive
tape.
- Remove the cellular antenna base from the exterior of the rear
window using a small flat-bladed plastic tool in order to release the double
back adhesive tape.
- Clean the adhesive residue
from the rear window using a new razor blade, isopropyl alcohol pad and a
clean lint-free cloth.
Installation Procedure
Important: Do not attempt to reinstall the original antenna exterior base or the
interior coupling using any type of glue, adhesive tapes, ect. Doing so may
eliminate the cellular signal transfer through the glass and reduce the
maximum performance of the system that includes air bag deployment.
- Clean the interior and the exterior surface of the rear window in the
cellular antenna mounting location, using an isopropyl alcohol pad, a
clean lint-free cloth and allow to air dry.
- Mark the cellular antenna location with a grease pencil on the
exterior surface of the rear window.
- Connect the cellular coaxial cable (2) to the coupling
box (1).
- Allow a cure time of 24 hours at 60°F (16°C) or
above in order to achieve maximum bonding of the cellular antenna coupling
box.
Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing.
- Remove the protective film from the adhesive backing of the coupling
box.
- Install the coupling box to the marked location on the interior
surface of the rear window with the cellular coaxial cable toward the headliner.
Press the coupling box into place until fully seated for approximately
30 seconds.
- Clean the exterior surface
of the rear window in the cellular antenna base mounting location, using
an isopropyl alcohol pad and a clean lint-free cloth to remove the
grease pencil marks and allow to air dry.
Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing.
- Remove the protective film from the adhesive backing of the cellular
antenna base (1).
- Allow a cure time of 24 hours at 60°F (16°C) or
above in order to achieve maximum bonding of the cellular antenna base.
Important: Failure to exactly follow the location foot print will result in severe
phone and vehicle audio performance degradation.
- Install the cellular antenna base to the foot print location of the
coupling box (2) on the exterior surface of the rear window (4)
with the cellular antenna mast (5) in a straight up position.
Important: Press firmly around the entire periphery of the coupling base in order
to ensure the wetting out of the adhesive and to eliminate any air bubbles.
- Press the cellular antenna coupling base into place until fully seated
for approximately 30 seconds.
- Clean the rear window with glass cleaner GM P/N 1050427
(Canadian P/N 992727) or the equivalent in order to remove any
finger prints.
- Install the left quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
