The theft deterrent system on this vehicle is comprised
of the following 2 separate systems:
- The Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key® II)
- The Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System
These systems are described and diagnosed separately.
The Pass-Key® II is designed in order to help prevent vehicle
theft by disabling the engine. This is true unless a key with a specific
electrical resistance is used in the ignition switch.
The system contains the following components:
• | The steering column lock cylinder |
• | The theft deterrent relay |
• | The instrument cluster (IPC) |
• | The powertrain control module (PCM) |
The CTD system is designed in order to provide a warning in the event
of forced entry through the doors and the trunk. When a forced entry is attempted,
the alarm warning system is activated. This condition causes the horn to
sound intermittently. The exterior lights also flash in unison for approximately
3 minutes. The CTD system does not affect engine starting.
The system contains the following components:
• | The trunk lock cylinder |
• | The body control module (PZM) |
