Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Press and release each of the driver information center (DIC) switches.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the DIC switch parameters in the instrument cluster (IPC) data list.

Does the scan tool display ON when all switches are pressed and OFF when all switches are released?

Does the scan tool always display OFF for all switches when each switch is pressed?

Test the ground circuit at terminal 15 of the driver information center (DIC) switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the scan tool always display ON when switches are not pressed?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DIC switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the suspect DIC switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Test the signal circuit of the suspect switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DIC switch.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the suspect DIC switch and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the suspect DIC switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display ON?
