Was the Wiper/Washer System Check performed?

  1. Remove WIPERS fuse A9 and connect a J 39200 set to the amp scale across the fuse terminals.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
  3. Set the wiper switch to LO.
  4. Observe the lowest current draw while the wipers are running on dry glass (current draw will fluctuate).

Is the lowest current draw less than the specified value?

Go to Step 3

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Is lowest current draw more than the specified value?

Inspect for an intermittent poor connection in CKTs 91, 92, 95, 143, 196, and 750.

Was a poor connection found?

--

Go to Step 6

Repair the poor connection.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Replace the wiper blade elements. Refer to Wiper Blade Element Replacement .
  2. Repeat the current draw test.

Is the lowest current draw still more than the specified value?

6.5 A

Disconnect the wiper transmission from the wiper motor crank arm and repeat the current draw test.

Is the lowest current draw still more than the specified value?

6.5 A

Go to Step 9

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

The wiper transmission assembly is binding. Repair or replace the wiper transmission as required. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement .
