Removal Procedure
- Remove the right sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in
Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to
Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement
in Instrument
Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Unsnap the rod from the plastic retainer on the actuator arm.
- Remove the two screws
from the actuator (3).
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
- Remove the actuator (3).
- Inspect the air mix door for free travel.
Installation Procedure
Important: After replacing the actuator (3), recalibrate the actuator for
proper travel. Cycle the ignition ON for 3 minutes in order to allow
the programmer and the actuator (3) to recalibrate for proper travel.
- Install the actuator (3).
- Connect the electrical connector (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the two
screws to the actuator (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.2 N·m (12 lb in).
- Snap the rod to the plastic retainer on the actuator arm.
- Install the instrument panel compartment. Refer to
Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement
in Instrument
Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Install the right sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in
Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
