Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant
Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Remove the core support filler panel. Refer to
Filler Panel Replacement - Upper
in Body Front End.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.
- Remove the hood release cable and position aside. Refer to
Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement
in Body front End.
- Remove the SIR discriminating sensor. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Replacement
in SIR.
- Remove the front engine torque struts. Refer to
Engine Mount Strut Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Disconnect the upper transmission cooler line from the radiator.
- Remove the cooling fans. Refer to
Engine Cooling Fan Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the condenser inlet
and outlet lines (1).
- Remove the radiator core upper support.
- Remove the condenser to radiator attachment bolts.
- Remove the condenser (3).
Installation Procedure
Tools Required
J 39400 Electronic
Halogen Leak Detector
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the condenser (3)
to the vehicle.
Tighten
Tighten the condenser mounting bolts to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).
- Install the radiator core upper support.
- Install the refrigerant
lines to the condenser (3).
Tighten
Tighten the condenser line fittings to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the cooling fans. Refer to
Engine Cooling Fan Replacement
in
Engine Cooling.
- Install the upper transmission cooler line to the radiator.
- Install the hood release cable. Refer to
Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement
in Body front
End.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.
- Install the front engine torque struts. Refer to
Engine Mount Strut Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Install the SIR discriminating sensor. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Replacement
in SIR.
- Install the core support filler panel. Refer to
Filler Panel Replacement - Upper
in Body Front End.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Check and fill the transmission fluid as needed.
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
- Leak test the A/C system. Refer to
