Power Steering Hoses Replacement Pressure

Removal Procedure

Notice: If the power steering system has been serviced, an accurate fluid level reading cannot be obtained unless air is bled from the steering system. The air in the fluid may cause pump cavitation noise and may cause pump damage over a period of time.

  1. Drain the power steering fluid from the reservoir.

  2. Object Number: 323565 Size: SH
  3. Remove the pressure pipe (1) from the pump (2).
  4. Remove the pressure pipe retaining clip from the engine block.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  9. Remove the plastic line retainer (2).
  10. Remove the pressure hose (1) from the steering gear (4).
  11. Remove the hose (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 323564 Size: MH
  1. Position the hose (1) into the vehicle.
  2. Install the pressure hose (1) at the steering gear (4).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
Tighten the pressure pipe at the gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  4. Install the plastic line retainer (2).
  5. Install the heat shield.
