Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 6627-A Tie Rod
Puller
- Raise the vehicle and support the vehicle with a jackstand. Refer
to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to
Front Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- caliper and mounting bracket. Refer to
Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the brake rotor. Refer to
Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the J 6627-A
and press the stud out.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new stud using
washers and a wheel nut.
- Make sure the stud is fully seated onto the hub.
- Install the brake caliper and mounting bracket using new caliper
mounting bolts. Refer to
Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the brake rotor. Refer to
Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the brake caliper. Refer to
Front Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install tire and
wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Wheels and Tires.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (100 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
