Exhaust Manifold Removal Right


    Object Number: 331281 Size: SH
  1. Remove the oxygen sensor (1) and inspect the sensor for excessive deposits or damage. Replace the oxygen sensor if necessary.

    2. Object Number: 315065 Size: SH

    Important: In some cases, the stud will remain attached to the nut during removal. If this happens, you must install the nut/stud combination in its ORIGINAL location or an exhaust leak could occur.

  2. Remove the right exhaust manifold retaining nuts (3).

    3. Important: DO NOT reuse the exhaust manifold gasket.

  3. Remove the exhaust manifold and the gasket (1).

    4. Object Number: 350278 Size: SH
  4. If equipped, remove the right coolant heater (1) as follows:
    5. 4.1. Remove the coolant heater retaining bolt.
    4.2. Remove coolant heater from the cylinder block.

Exhaust Manifold Removal Right with A.I.R.


    Object Number: 522461 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the vacuum harness from the A.I.R. valve and vacuum solenoid valve.

    2. Object Number: 522468 Size: SH
  2. Remove the A.I.R. valve pipe nuts from the exhaust manifold.
  3. Remove the A.I.R. valve bolts from the mounting bracket.
  4. Remove the A.I.R. valve.

    5. Important: DO NOT reuse the A.I.R. valve pipe gasket.

  5. Remove and discard the A.I.R. valve pipe gasket.

  6. Remove the oxygen sensor (1) and inspect the sensor for excessive deposits or damage. Replace the oxygen sensor if necessary.

    7. Object Number: 315065 Size: SH

  7. Remove the right exhaust manifold retaining nuts (3).

    8. Important: DO NOT reuse the exhaust manifold gasket.

  8. Remove the exhaust manifold and the gasket (1).

  9. If equipped, remove the right coolant heater (1) as follows:
    10. 9.1. Remove the coolant heater retaining bolt.
    9.2. Remove coolant heater from the cylinder block.

Exhaust Manifold Removal Left with A.I.R.


    Object Number: 522447 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the vacuum harness from the A.I.R. valve.

    2. Object Number: 522465 Size: SH
  2. Remove the A.I.R. valve pipe nuts from the exhaust manifold.
  3. Remove the A.I.R. valve bolt from the mounting bracket.
  4. Remove the A.I.R. valve nuts from the mounting bracket.
  5. Remove the A.I.R. valve.

    6. Important: DO NOT reuse the old A.I.R. valve pipe gasket.

  6. Remove and discard the A.I.R. valve pipe gasket.

    7. Object Number: 331274 Size: SH
  7. Remove the oxygen sensor (1) and inspect the sensor for excessive deposits or damage.

    8. Replace the oxygen sensor if necessary.

  8. Remove the exhaust manifold to crossover pipe bolts (3).
  9. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts (6).
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold (2).

    11. Important: DO NOT reuse the exhaust manifold to crossover pipe gasket.

  11. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold to crossover pipe gasket (5).

    12. Important: DO NOT reuse the exhaust manifold gasket.

  12. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket (1).

    13. Object Number: 651462 Size: SH
  13. Disconnect the EGR inlet tube nut (1) from the exhaust crossover.

    14. Important: The EGR valve inlet pipe incorporates a crush seal connection at the water crossover. The EGR valve inlet pipe must be replaced if disconnected from the water crossover.

  14. Remove the EGR inlet pipe bolt (2) and flange (3) from the water crossover.
  15. Remove the EGR inlet tube and discard.

    16. Object Number: 315068 Size: SH
  16. Remove the exhaust crossover stud (3) and bolt (1).
  17. Remove the exhaust crossover (2).

    18. Object Number: 350279 Size: SH
  18. If equipped, remove the left coolant heater (1) as follows:
    19. 18.1. Remove the coolant heater bolt.
    18.2. Remove the coolant heater from the cylinder block.

    Object Number: 522403 Size: SH
  19. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
  20. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
  21. Remove and discard the O-ring from the oil level indicator tube.

Exhaust Manifold Removal Left


    Object Number: 331274 Size: SH
  1. Remove the oxygen sensor (1) and inspect the sensor for excessive deposits or damage. Replace the oxygen sensor if necessary.

    2. Object Number: 315063 Size: SH
  2. Remove the exhaust manifold to crossover pipe bolts (3).
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts (6).
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold (2).

    5. Important: DO NOT reuse the exhaust manifold to crossover pipe gasket.

  5. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold to crossover pipe gasket (5).

    6. Important: DO NOT reuse the exhaust manifold gasket.

  6. Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket (1).

    7. Object Number: 651462 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the EGR inlet tube nut (1) from the exhaust crossover.

    8. Important: The EGR valve inlet pipe incorporates a crush seal connection at the water crossover. The EGR valve inlet pipe must be replaced if disconnected from the water crossover.

  8. Remove the EGR inlet pipe bolt (2) and flange (3) from the water crossover.
  9. Remove the EGR inlet tube and discard.

    10. Object Number: 315068 Size: SH
  10. Remove the exhaust crossover stud (3) and bolt (1).
  11. Remove the exhaust crossover (2).

    12. Object Number: 350279 Size: SH
  12. If equipped, remove the left coolant heater (1) as follows:
    13. 12.1. Remove the coolant heater bolt.
    12.2. Remove the coolant heater from the cylinder block.

    Object Number: 522403 Size: SH
  13. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
  14. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
  15. Remove and discard the O-ring from the oil level indicator tube.
