  10. Cover the fuel pressure regulator housing to prevent contamination from entering the fuel system.

Installation Procedure

    Notice:

       • Do not use compressed air in order to test or clean a fuel pressure regulator as damage to the fuel pressure regulator may result.
       • Clean the fuel pressure regulator filter screen with gasoline if necessary.
       • Do not immerse the fuel pressure regulator in a solvent bath in order to prevent damage to the fuel pressure regulator.

    Object Number: 568936 Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-rings on the fuel pressure regulator, if a new fuel pressure regulator is not being installed. Lubricate the O-rings lightly with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the fuel pressure regulator seal lower O-ring (2).
  3. Install the fuel pressure regulator assembly filter (3).
  4. Install the fuel pressure regulator seal upper O-ring (4).
  5. Install the fuel pressure regulator seal back-up ring (5).
  6. Install the fuel pressure regulator assembly retainer clip (1).
  7. Install the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
  8. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

    .
  9. Inspect for leaks.
  10. 9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn ON the ignition.

    Object Number: 475295 Size: SH
  11. Install the fuel injector sight shield (1) to the engine.
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Install the fuel injector sight shield nuts (2).
  14. Tighten
Tighten the nuts 3 N·m (27 lb in).
