Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the
vehicle.
- Remove air deflector.
- Disconnect wiring harness retainer.
- Remove oil sending unit.
- Remove oil cooler lines.
- Remove the crankshaft sensor electrical connector. For specific
CKP sensor identification, refer to
CKP B, CKP A, Engine Oil Pressure Switch, and Engine Oil Level Switch
- Remove the crankshaft retaining bolt.
- Remove the crankshaft sensor.
Installation Procedure
Important: Inspect the crankshaft sensor O-ring for wear or damage. If a problem
is found, replace the O-ring.
- Lubricate the crankshaft sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the crankshaft
sensor and the retaining bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the retaining bolt between 8-11N·m (70-100 lb in).
- Install the crankshaft sensor electrical connector.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Operate the engine and inspect crankshaft sensor for engine oil
leaks.
