Pull Down Circuit Description

When the rear compartment lid is unlatched, the rear compartment lid latch switch moves to the UNLATCHED position and the rear compartment lid ajar switch moves to the LID AJAR position. Since the striker switches are in position 1, the PULL DOWN Fuse provides battery voltage to the striker motor through striker switch B. The striker motor runs, since the motor is grounded through striker switch C and the rear compartment lid ajar switch. The striker motor drives the striker up until the striker switches are moved to position 2. The striker motor will stop running, since the motor is no longer grounded through striker switch C.

When the rear compartment lid is open, the rear compartment lid ajar switch provides an input on CKT  744 (RED/BLK) informing the body control module (PZM) the rear compartment lid is ajar. The PZM then requests, by Class 2 serial data line, that the TRUNK OPEN message be displayed on the driver information center (DIC).

When the rear compartment lid is latched, the rear compartment lid latch engages the striker and the rear compartment lid latch switch moves to the LATCHED position. Since the striker switches are in position 2, the motor through striker switch B. The striker motor runs, because the motor is grounded through the striker switch A and the rear compartment lid latch switch. The striker motor drives the striker down until the striker switches are moved to position 1. The striker motor will stop running, because the motor is no longer grounded through the striker switch A. When the rear compartment lid is in the fully closed position the rear compartment lid ajar switch moves to the LID CLOSED position.
