Did you perform the entire Lumbar Support: Memory System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the RH lumbar switch connector.
  3. Operate the RH lumbar switch in the DOWN position.
  4. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) between the RH lumbar switch connector cavity E (ORN) and cavity D (YEL) (Deville) or cavity C (YEL) (Eldorado).

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Test CKT 757 (YEL) for an open. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Repair the open in CKT 757 (YEL). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the RH lumbar switch. Refer to Lumbar/Heated Seat Switch Replacement - Power .

Is the lumbar switch replacement complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Disconnect the RH lumbar vertical motor connector.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between battery positive voltage (B+) and one of the lumbar motor cavities.
  4. Connect a fused jumper between the other lumbar motor cavity and ground.

Does the motor run?

Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 793 (PNK) or (TAN/WHT) between the RH lumbar massage module and the RH lumbar vertical motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 792 (ORN) or (PPL/WHT) between the RH lumbar massage module and the RH lumbar vertical motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Replace the RH lumbar vertical motor.

Is the lumbar vertical motor replacement complete?

Test for proper terminal contact at the RH lumbar massage module connector. Refer to Intermittents and Poor Connections Diagnosis in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open in CKT 742 (RED) between the RH lumbar massage module connector cavity A and splice S356. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.
