Did you perform the entire Lumbar Support: Memory System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  3. Select INPUTS from the memory seat module (MSM) DATA DISPLAY.
  4. Operate the LH lumbar switch in the OUT position.

Does the scan tool indicate that the seat switch input was received?

  1. Disconnect the LH lumbar horizontal motor connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between battery positive voltage (B+) and one of the lumbar motor cavities.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the other lumbar motor cavity and ground.

Does the motor run?

Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 610 (PNK) or (PNK/BLK) between the MSM and the LH lumbar horizontal motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Test for an open or short to ground in CKT 611 (DK BLU) or (DK BLU/WHT) between the MSM and the LH lumbar horizontal motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity or Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Is the wiring OK?

Replace the LH lumbar horizontal motor.

Is the lumbar horizontal motor replacement complete?

Test for an open in CKT 1840 (ORN) between the MSM connector C2 cavity D and splice S306. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the LH lumbar switch connector.
  3. Operate the LH lumbar switch in the OUT position.
  4. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) between the LH lumbar switch connector cavity E (BLK) and cavity B (PPL) (Deville) or cavity A (PPL) (Eldorado).

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms
