Circuit Description

The memory seat module (MSM) supplies voltage to the seat and the lumbar motors when the MSM receives an input in order to move the seats. This input may be a manual switch or a recall function.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • This DTC sets only if DTC MSM B1982 or DTC MSM B1983 is not current.
    • The MSM sets the DTC when only one seat motor is being driven and the motor's current draw is greater than 45 amperes.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

All seat movement is stopped.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The memory seat module (MSM) does not detect the seat motor failure during the last monitoring cycle.

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step tests the horizontal motor.

  2. This step tests the rear vertical motor.

  3. This step tests the rear vertical motor.

  4. This step tests the recline motor.
