The DeVille offers the following seats:
• | AL7 8-way power seat adjustment |
The 3 front seats available on the Eldorado are
identified by an option code. The following option codes are available:
• | AR9 Front bucket deluxe |
• | AQ9 Front bucket luxury |
• | AN3 Front individual, non-bucket |
Refer to the following components in order to verify the specific seat
option code:
• | The vehicle body number plate |
• | The service parts identification label |
Refer to General Information for information on how to read the plate
or the label.
The Eldorado seats have inertia seat back locks. This feature allows
the seat back to move freely without requiring the occupant to release a
lock lever for access to the rear seat area. The seat back inertia locking
system locks the front setbacks in an upright position under the following
conditions:
• | If the front of the vehicle is declined 20 degrees or more |
A seat back lock release lever allows the manual release of the inertia
lock when the front of the vehicle is declined 20 degrees or more.
The release lever is on the lower, outboard corner of the seat back.
The seat covers are bonded to the cushions with a special
hot melt glue. The hook and loop attachment is no longer used for securing
the front seat cover to the cushion. Use special glue and processes in servicing
the front seats. Use the Bostik glue gun (TG-4) or the equivalent with a
minimum melting temperature of 138°C (280°F). Use Bostik 13-mm (1/2-in)
glue sticks, GM P/N 12377914 or the equivalent.
The seat assembly is secured to the floor pan by bolts
installed in the rear. The 8-way seat adjusters are powered by three 12-volts
reversible, permanent magnet motors with built-in circuit breakers. The
motors are energized by a control switch installed on the front door armrests.
The 3 motors respectively direct drive the front and the rear vertical
gearnuts. When the adjusters reach the limit of travel, the torque
is absorbed through the rubber mounted grommets located between the motor
and the support. An overload relay is in the circuit should excessive stall
torque be applied to the motor. For seat adjuster mechanical diagnosis, refer
to

. The
power-operated reclining seat backs are equipped with a small permanent
magnet (PM) type motor under the seat cushion frame. The motor drives dual
reclining actuators on each side of the seat cushion frame by means of the
drive cables.
