Lumbar Support Inoperative w/o A45

DEFINITION: This table diagnoses inoperative lumbar support (AL2) in the left and right seat. Perform the diagnoses if the lumbar support does not move in any direction.

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the lumbar switch connector from cavity E (ORN) to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Test CKT 742 (RED) for an open between splice S311 and splice 352. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit OK?

Test CKT 850 (BLK) for an open between splice S313 and splice 351. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is the circuit OK?

Is the lumbar switch replacement complete?

Repair the open in CKT 1840 (ORN) between S330 and the lumbar switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

DEFINITION: This table diagnoses concerns with the lumbar support (AL2) in the LH seat equipped with the memory function (A45). The diagnosis does not cover the LH seat without the memory function (A45) or the right seat. For diagnosis of the lumbar support in the LH seat without A45 or the right seat, refer to Lumbar Support System Check .

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module (MSM) connector C2.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from the MSM connector C2 cavity D (ORN) to cavity C (BLK).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

  1. Disconnect the LH lumbar switch connector.
  2. Connect a DMM from the MSM connector C2 cavity D (ORN) to the LH lumbar switch connector cavity E (BLK).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Replace the LH lumbar switch. Refer to Lumbar/Heated Seat Switch Replacement - Power .

Is the lumbar switch replacement complete?

Repair the open in CKT 850 (BLK) between S351 and the MSM. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
